Sunday night we had a Holiday party here at Harpswell. I get the question “Do they celebrate Christmas over there?” and the answer is no. However, with more and more of an expat influence in Phnom Penh, it’s starting to become a novelty holiday. They know of the song “jingle bells” and have a rough idea about Santa. see:
I went up to Orasey market earlier last week and bought a small Christmas tree and some lights/garland. I figured the girls would get a kick out of it, and they did. They also decided to do a gift exchange with a $2.50 limit. I ended up getting a cute (fake) Longchamp clutch in the market for roughly that amount.
There was a feast- fried calamari, so good! And then there was dancing. And more dancing.
